What Do Plumbers Do?

Plumbers perform a wide variety of tasks related to the water fixtures and appliances in the home or business, such as:

How We Help

Whenever a homeowner or business owner has a water related issue, it’s generally going to be a major issue if not addressed. Plumbers come out and save the day, prevent major damage to the buildings and keep homes and businesses running smoothly.

Being a plumber can be physically demanding, both from a strength and agility perspective. You can expect to work in all environments, not just in a nice clean open space, but in tight confines in order to access pipes and other plumbing appliances. It is a rewarding experience because people appreciate you coming into their home or place of business and fixing their water problems.

A Career as a Plumber

Some customers are proactive and have us perform plumbing maintenance on their entire house or business. Checking for leaky valves, toilet flush operation, garbage disposal function etc.

Plumbers are always in high demand. With the rate that houses are being built here in the north Texas area, there will always be plumbing issues with houses as they age, and even some of the newer homes. The plumbing profession has been around for a very long time, and demand is only going up, leading to excellent job security.

Don’t expect a cushy 9-5 job however. An emergency at a customer’s home can take many hours to correct, and we stay and get the job done as needed.

Education Requirements

Many trade schools and colleges offer training as well as opportunities as an apprentice to local plumbing companies. An apprenticeship can last 4 or 5 years with a significant amount of class time.

One of the most important requirements of being a plumber is having exceptional customer skills. People that call us generally have a major problem, and part of our job is to communicate clearly and with confidence that we are going to fix their issues so they can get back on with their day. They are going to be stressed, worried and maybe concerned how much the repair is going to cost. We have to gain their trust. Once the job is successfully completed, the customer is usually very happy and will likely recommend our services to their friends. More referrals means more business for our company.

Some plumbers go on to owning their own business, running a multi truck operation, others prefer to stay on as employees or contractors.

How Much Can a Plumber Earn?

The Bureau of Labor Statistics keeps records of pay for different trades and professions. Refer to this link for further information.
